Biography
Saxophonist and composer Carlo Muscat embarked on his musical journey from an early age, fostering a deep love for jazz. Hailing from Malta, he initially gained recognition through performances within his local music scene, later expanding his horizons by collaborating with foreign artists. In 2013, he made the move to Paris, immersing himself in the city's vibrant music scene and refining his craft through collaborations with musicians from diverse backgrounds, leading to the release of his debut album, The Sound Catalogues.
Carlo appeared on stages across Europe in cities like Paris, London, Istanbul, Milan, Berlin, Kyiv, and Rotterdam. His sixth album, Hymns, recently earned four stars from Downbeat Magazine and secured a coveted spot on their list of Best Albums of 2023, further cementing his position in the contemporary jazz landscape.
With six albums as a leader and contributions to five others as a sideman, Muscat's musical journey is characterized by an ongoing, expressive process that thrives on the freedom of interpretation and an unapologetic embrace of improvisation. His music reflects an unwavering commitment to the craft and a steadfast pursuit of a personal musical standard.
